Traveling minds.

Pocahontas Carter - Author

This book empowers children to see beauty in their uniqueness. We often watch our children suffer in silence because they don’t know how to express their feelings to us. We don’t always know how to provide answers they can understand either. I’m a grown woman, and sometimes, I feel unhappy about my flaws. These are natural feelings. Children need to learn how to process these emotions. The flowers in the shop compare ways growth happens, mentally and physically; yet, on child’s level in a way that they can understand. As a mother, it was a subject that I had difficulty explaining to my children. I’m pretty sure many other parents do as well. The flowers in the shop provide key talking points that adults can use to have open conversations with young children.

  • Encouraging talks with your child about self-esteem and reinforcing a positive self-image allows them to feel confident about their looks.
  • An excellent starting point for introducing teamwork, lessons regarding camaraderie ship, and genuine support in times of need.
  • Empathy, as the flowers provide words of comfort to one another.
  • This story opens a gateway to spark a discussion about jealously. The way we think about ourselves influences our choices and decisions.

We are all gifted with imagination. Imagination is such a powerful thing; it sparks new ideas, concepts, and creativity. Reading allows a child to use their imagination. Oh, how we as parents love to read to our babies. It just might be their very first time traveling! Traveling minds can take you places. Let’s not forget, all of our great inventions of today started in mind as an idea. Imagination is truly the gift that keeps on giving.
