Virtual Zoom Reading with Friendship Woodridge PCS
During the pandemic, I had the opportunity to read my book to 84 exceptional little scholars at Friendship Woodridge PCS during a virtual Zoom visit. We planted microgreens, which the students took home to watch their seedlings sprout. We had a fantastic time and planted seeds for a love of reading, too!

WHO IS POCAHONTAS?
Pocahontas Carter is the founder and CEO of hokeyPoquii LLC (pronounced hokeyPokey). I am a glam-ma and a mother of four, a woman of color with plenty of life lessons to use as a pathway towards the nurturing, growing, and expansion of little traveling minds. Traveling minds can take you places, and I invite you, the reader, to travel with me into a world where my creative thoughts turn into words on paper. I, a DC native, attended John Burroughs Elementary and Taft Junior High. I’m a graduate of McKinley Tech Senior High School (“Go –Trainers!”), my goal is to promote empowerment through children’s literature.

We are all gifted with imagination. Imagination is such a powerful thing; it sparks new ideas, concepts, and creativity. Reading allows a child to use their imagination. Oh, how we as parents love to read to our babies. It just might be their very first time traveling! Traveling minds can take you places. Let's not forget, all of our great inventions of today started in mind as an idea. Imagination is truly the gift that keeps on giving.
